The benefits of just doing it

Let’s just be clear here, Nike were definitely onto something when they came up with their logo – just do it.

Galvanising, inspiring, it’s encouraged a whole generation to get off their couches and just do something. Less thinking more doing!

- Psst - if you're looking to just do it, I've got a fabulous offer for you at the end!!

The Podcast

This week I was so surprised to learn that the Women Who Create podcast that I run with the lovely Amy Phipps had been listed by the HSBC Knowledge Centre as one of the 6 best podcasts for women in business in the UK.

We were right up there with Carrie Green, a superwoman in the UK women in business stakes!

Now if we had listened to the advice I’d got from a successful podcaster this podcast would have never had started.

And if we had waited until we knew what we were doing in the editing, sound recording stakes it also would never have launched.

The advice I got went along the lines of, make sure you have a strategy and know-how you are going to make money out of the podcast as soon as you launch it. Don’t start the podcast just because you think it will be fun, because it’s a lot of work. People won’t listen to the podcast if your sound is off.

And if you’ve listened to our first few podcasts you’ll have an inkling that we aren’t sound engineers.

Thankfully Amy and I threw all caution into the wind and just did it.

We didn’t know what we were doing. It took us about 4 hours just to register with iTunes – anyone who say apple products are easy – I beg to differ.

We literally had no idea who to use our yeti mic properly.

Our knowledge of audacity editing came from one strange youtube tutorial.

We had no idea what to expect from the podcast, we just really wanted to do one together.

And we wanted it to be fun, we both agreed at the start if we never made money from it, that would be fine.

And we just did it.

The Indie Freedom Seekers

I have a similar story with the Indie Freedom Seekers. I’d wanted to launch an online course/membership programme for years. I’d paid for several, worked out what I liked and what I didn’t like. I’d been coaching for several years and had my clarity and confidence programme sewn down.

But I still hadn’t launched anything online!

I was working with the lovely Janet Murray at the time, and she encouraged me to just launch it. (we all need to work with a good coach occasionally!).

So, I sent out an email, prepared a landing page and created the first-month content, and people joined! That was the extent of my planning.

I just did it.

The relief I felt when it was launched and people bought. I had my membership programme!

And it’s been a fabulous journey. I’ve got to work with amazing women (and now 1 man!) in business. We’ve had bi-monthly group coaching calls, we’ve had a gorgeous retreat day and we’ve worked through 13 modules together, working on growing our businesses – I love it!

And it’s the main reason this year I can take 19 days off in August in one big go, plus go away for long holidays for the other 2 weekends in August.

I’m not worried, I have recurring revenue coming into my business, and already have clients paid and ready to start working with me in September.

My business is healthy and I don’t need to be in it all the time to keep it going.

What a relief!

Can you just do it?

There are always lots of reasons why we shouldn’t do something.

* You’re not prepared.
* You don’t really know if anyone wants it (until you do it!)
* It might be better in a few months time
* You don’t have a proper strategy
* You’re not sure if you have the time
* You’re scared
* You’re not ready yet

But do you know what? You’ll never know until you try.

Fail and fail fast, is a business moto that circles around. Try things. Be prepared to fail. Bootstrap. Give it a go. You’ll never learn from not doing things.

Procrastination and perfectionism are killers. If you wait for everything to be perfect you’ll never start anything!

With that in mind, I’ve been procrastinating about starting my own group mastermind for a while.

I want to get deep with a few select wonderful women in business (and men!) about their business. I love the group coaching we do with the Indie Freedom Seekers, you get so much value from working with a group.

So I’m looking to talk to you if you’re wanting to just do it. If you’re floundering around the £0-2.5k mark and want to get your business growing I want to talk to you.

I’m looking for 6 women who can invest £110 in their business a month for the next 6 months to work with me.

If you’re stuck, not sure how to move forward and want some accountability and structure, I want to hear from you.

You’ll get free access to the Indie Freedom Seekers membership community and we’ll be going through the Clarity and Confidence programme together.

You’ll need to commit to 2 1 hour-long calls a month and we’ll be starting in October and working through until March – where you’ll be springing into spring!

I’ll want to speak to you first, so if you’re interested click this link to book a free 20-minute call with me before the end of September, so I can find out more about you and your business and see if your business is at a suitable stage for this mastermind: https://calendly.com/de…/20-min-discovery-session-mastermind

Why not just do it!!
