We all get in the funk sometimes! The internet goes down, we feel grotty, we've just lost a client, we had an argument with our loved one, we just can't seem to get in the mood.
Life throws all sorts of curve balls at us, and as small business owners, we still have to keep the ship moving and do the things we need to do to keep our business afloat.
So here's some tips when you're feeling funky!
1 - Step away from it all
We can feel like we just have to battle on through. Keep ploughing through those emails, keep up with replying to social media posts, keep on writing that sales page.
Step away from the vehicle mam.
If you're trying to work through tears, anger, a headache or anything that makes you feel less than 100% you're not going to be producing your best work.
2 - Do something to give you a little sense of joy
Now you've admitted defeat and given into the funk, can you do something to make yourself feel a little better?
Could you go to a local cafe and eat cake? Could you spend 20 minutes gardening? Could you go for a walk? Could you stroke a cat?
Do something to break the day up, give yourself a treat and give your brain a little boost.
3 - Sometimes you've just got to admit defeat!
Sometimes the funk is so bad we're not going to get anything productive all day.
We can be our own worst enemies as business owners. We work long hours, we tie ourselves to a desk because we feel that we have to be seen to be working.
But here's the thing. Are you truly being productive. I bet you're going in and out of different tabs in your laptop, gazing at social media and unable to focus.
We work the longest hours in Europe and we are the least productive. THE LEAST! So hours does not equal productivity. At all.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is throw up our hands, give into our funkiness and know the tomorrow is another day.
