How I helped Emmie Faust build her consultancy business

How I helped Emmie build her consultancy, exceed membership targets + launch a successful online course

When we first started working together, Emmie had already founded multiple successful companies in the 10+ years she’d been in business.

Faced with the challenge of setting up a consultancy, she needed help to work out where to focus. And with so much experience to draw from, it certainly wasn’t a simple choice!

I’ve had the enormous pleasure of working with Emmie since January 2019 and she’s become a good friend as well as a coaching client. Here, she shares how long-term coaching helped her to achieve success by providing support and accountability.

Challenge: How do you position and promote a new business when it’s just you?

When Emmie Faust set up her consultancy she found it difficult to work out which direction to take.

With more than a decade’s experience growing and scaling businesses, she needed to decide where to niche down, and how best to use her expertise to help others.

As a solo-consultant, Emmie wanted someone with an outside perspective to help clarify her thoughts and provide support.

Emmie has lots of fabulous ideas, so she needed a sounding board to help keep her on track.

As Emmie says, “My biggest problem is, I want to do so much. It’s important to have a trusted person to listen to your ideas, to support and challenge you, and hold you accountable.”

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Solution: Confidence, accountability, and relentless encouragement!

When I first started working with Emmie, I helped her create a personal brand and promote herself as a consultant. As we got to know each other better, we developed a close relationship of trust. I was able to help her to clarify exactly what she wanted to do and how she could add value to her clients.

Emmie and I continued to meet for monthly coaching sessions after the initial 4 months of intensive coaching, and her business flourished. When the world went into lockdown, it was inspiring to see Emmie continue to reach for her goals. By then, I knew her and her business so well, I could take on the role of ‘trusted advisor’ and be the ‘constant’ she needed.

Having spent the last few years building her consultancy, Emmie realised there was a need to connect coaches and consultants so they could collaborate and network more easily. I was excited to support and encourage Emmie and help her to promote this passion project while she continued to grow her consulting business.

Emmie said, “Debbie just gave me the confidence to do it… It’s lovely to work with women who build you up. Debbie really cares about her clients, she looks after them, and supports them.”

Results: A profitable consultancy, launch targets exceeded, and all-important family time protected.

Over the last few years, I’ve provided support and accountability for Emmie, enabling her to:

  • Clarify her positioning and establish her personal brand – attracting more of her ideal 1:1 clients.

  • Exceed her membership launch target, with 45 paying members

  • Successfully launch her online growth programme, with 18 clients.

  • Grow in confidence, build a profitable consultancy, and do work she loves while protecting family time.

“If you find the right coach, stay with them. When things are going well, I want continuity. When they're not, I need support. Debbie has enabled me to do the work I love profitably and be happy. I work with great clients and I’m able to see my four children. That’s the dream for me.”

Debbie has been my mentor for quite a while now. She is a fabulous lady. She really is. Very on it and also very lovely. Since working with her I have found my space working with the clients that value me (who I love working with). I’m now fully booked with amazing client work and still finding time to do my podcast, exercise and taking my kids to school- all the things that are important to me. I feel very lucky to have come across Debbie. I know that she is very much in demand and I can totally understand why! Thanks Debbie for everything
