Happy New Year! At the beginning of this New Year, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit this video I made from last year.
I wanted to think about how we can manage the pressure that we need to be further along in our business, that we’re not far enough ahead, that we should be doing more things - just because we’ve had a bit of a break over the festive season. (And I hope you did have a bit of break too?)
The New Year gives us a bit of a re-set button and helps us to think about what we want for this year. Some people worry they haven’t done enough, and there can be a sense of panic at the beginning of the year.
I want to reassure you that you are exactly where you need to be on your journey - right now, that’s where you need to be to build your business the way you want to. It’s easy to spend time looking at other businesses and comparing ourselves but you know, we’ve got years to do all the things we need to do with our business so we have plenty of time.
Look at this year in four sections - four areas for you to improve the business. What’s the task you want to do every quarter? Do you want to launch a product? Do you want to improve your email list? Break each task down into smaller chunks. What do you need to do to make that happen? Advertising, perhaps? Start emailing people?
Whatever it is that you want to do, break it down into smaller chunks and give yourself 90 days to do, it will feel much more manageable! We can’t leapfrog the learning, the failures, the testing - we need to do all of that to move forward.
So, give yourself a break! Think about how you can manage your time, remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and start breaking those big goals down into smaller ones too.
Thinking about the New Year and reflecting on what we’re doing, did you see my blog all about what the last 10 years have taught me? Have a read here.
